Since snagging my copy of Demi Lovato’s new album, the title track has been the one that gets me straight in the heart. I’m serious, you haven’t lived until you’re driving down the highway with “Tell Me You Love Me” turned all the way up, booming the speakers with the powerful beat, coupled with that impossible voice Demi sings from her small frame. Seriously, where did this girl come from?
I’m 26 years old, but I still get that teenage giddy when the YouTube notification pops up to inform me that Demi has finally released a new music video. I’m a sucker, I know, I have no shame.
When my phone informed me at 10 o-clock this morning that the “Tell Me You Love Me” video was released, I flashed back to 2008 when Demi’s first video, following her Camp Rock debut to fame, was released. I remember sitting at my beat up hand-me-down Toshiba, hitting refresh over and over, anxiously waiting for the “Get Back” music video to appear. When it did, I remember my heart racing as I rushed to click it and flipping out when I pulled it up and I was view #3. One of the first! That feisty video has now been viewed 26,406,606 times, and that fierceness still remains, but her voice is so much stronger. TMYLM is a clear example, that and her mind boggling, mouth dropping “Stone Cold” which she destroyed last year! (In the best way)
As Demi teased a few days ago when she released a picture of herself in a wedding dress, the video portrays an emotionally high couple working their way from proposal to the alter. And when I say emotional, I mean from grinding in bed to cursing at one another. Big smiles and devastating tears leave your heart gripping through the picturesque scenes. Honestly, my eyes watered. I’ll admit it.
Part of the way through I seriously wondered if this was her way to announce she had eloped on all of us. Seriously, that setup is #WeddingGoals. Or, vow renewal depending on your current status. A garden like one from a dream or beautiful fairytale, completed with bridesmaids and everything. Plus the mock up wedding invite to see her video — way to play with our heart strings, Demi! 😭
Without spoiling it, it’s just a video. And a beautiful one at that. #1 currently trending so if you haven’t seen it, you should.
I can’t wait to see what else Demi has to throw out way in the future. Singer, author, activist and actress, the possibilities are endless of what our dear Lovato will throw at us next.
Let me know what you thought of the video? Heart sing or heart break? And did anyone else think it was maybe a real wedding? Tell me in the comments.
